| Sambutan Ulang Tahun Hari Kebangsaan ke-30 |
In commemoration of the 30th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, BruKeele celebrated Brunei National day on the 15th of February 2014. It was an event that was a first of its kind as there were no events like this before this, organised by our own BruKeele Society. Other Bruneian Societies were invited and the presidents from Brunei Warwick and Brunei Birmingham Society attended the event.
The event began with Do'a recited by our Religious Officer, Firas Ibrahim, followed by the National Anthem. The president, Qawi Matsatejo, then proceeded to give a short speech welcoming those who were present. The main event then started off with a Drama depicting the lives of Bruneians back in the days during the Japanese occupation in Brunei. After the touching story concluded, a video was shown showing pictures of the aftermath of the occupation. The members then continued the event with Traditional Dancing, choreographed by Hazimah Hanafiah. To end the performances, a band performed 3 songs followed by pantun-pantun. The event then moved to the Exhibition Suite in Chancellors Building, where the committee had food ready for the society members.
