Winter Games Cardiff 2014

Last Sunday, 21st December 2014, members of brukeele society went to Cardiff to join  the annual Winter Games. Members of the brukeele soceity formed teams with non-brukeele members to participate in Futsal and Netball.

During the day itself, members of brukeele and non-brukeele gathered at 4 am in the morning in front of the Student Union to go to Cardiff via coach and had stayed at the game till 8 pm. Members that participated in Futsal and Netball all worked hard competing in all their games. Those who were not participating in the games were hyped up in the atmosphere as they cheered for their friends.

Despite not winning and each of the Futsal and Netball player sustaining some injuries, they all had an enjoyable time and they ended the day in good spirit.

Sambutan Tahun Baru 1436 Hijrah

Assalamualaikum,

On the 24th of October 2014, BruKeele's very own religious officers Firas Ibrahim and Fathin Julaihi organised an event to celebrate the start of an Islamic New Year, Tahun Baru 1436 Hijrah. The event was held in the Keele Islamic Center and was led by Firas Ibrahim.

This years theme for Maal Hijrah as quoted by Firas was "bersatu mendukung undang-undang Allah SWT".

BruKeele members all gathered in the Islamic center at Maghrib (Sunset), where we first began the event by reading the Doa Akhir Tahun 1435H and then commencing with Maghrib prayers followed by the reading of the Doa Awal Tahun 1436H. After the doas and Maghrib berjemaah, Firas then led everyone through during the reading of the Yasin followed by a Tahlil. The event then continued on with all members performed Sembahyang Hajat before food was then served.

After we filled our tummies, we cleaned up and ended the event by praying Isya berjemaah which was led by a BruKeele members brother.

Here are some photos taken during the event.

BruKeele 2014 Ice-Breaking Session

On the 11th October 2014, BruKeele held an Icebreaking session as a formal welcoming by gathering together the current and new members of Brukeele to the event to begin to get to know each other. The session was held in the Chancellor Building where the committee members organised team games in order to get people to work together in a fun an active way. To help spice up this years event, the committee members held an 'Amazing Race' sort of game with a grand price of £50!

The event started off with the current President, Cedric Loo, introducing himself and other committee members which then moved by kindly asking all members who attended the event to briefly introduce themselves to the rest. A warm up game was then played before the Amazing Race, where members were ask to pair up for a game of 'Musical Newspaper'. Before the Amazing Race begun, present members were split into groups and given a piece of paper telling them where each committee member was located. BUT! It wasn't that easy, in order to find the committee member they had to guess which station to go next through clue and hints that were handed to them after they had finished an activity at a station. Prizes were given to the first, second and third place winners.

After the game had ended, members were invited to enjoy the food and drinks prepared by the BruKeele Committee.  As we still had time to spare, we decided to end the day with a fun round of Musical Chairs followed by a thank you speech by the BruKeele President, and a Doa Selamat by our current Religious Officer, Firas Ibrahim.

The committee members were really happy with the result of the ice-breaking session and would like thank everyone who attended this event. :)
